Hike 4 Happiness

Meet | Walk | Connect | Talk
At Project HAND we believe in the power of preventative action to reduce the increasing prevalence of mental illness so we are continuing to look for new ways to improve the mental health of Australians.
Did you know exercise is not just important for your physical health? It can also improve your mental health too! Exercise releases "feel good" chemicals in our brain like endorphins and serotonin. It also increases the blood flow to our brains which increases the size of our hippocampus and improves our memory!
Hike 4 Happiness aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness, create meaningful connections and get the endorphins flowing in the name of improving our mental health and wellbeing.
Since our first walk in May 2018, we have explored many locations around South-East Queensland including Toohey Forest, Kalinga Park, Mt Tamborine and founded a permanent walk at Daisy Hill Conversation Park.
How do I get involved?
-
Last Sunday of every month at Daisy Hill Conservation Park. We meet at the Daisy Hill Trail Hub at 7:30 for a 7:40 start.
-
3-4km (45mins - 1hr)
-
Walkers are encouraged to keep conversations flowing with a post-walk refuel at a nearby Cafe. Due to the size of the groups and COVID restrictions, we no longer book tables as a group.
-
Visit our Facebook Page to keep up to date with new locations or detail changes.
Can't join us? We are always looking for new locations to start permanent or one-off walks. If you'd like to become a host of a new public Hike 4 Happiness walk or start your own group with friends, family or colleagues in your local community or workplace, email us at hello@projecthand.org.au
Don't forget to share your walk experiences on social media with #hike4happiness
